The Brandywine School District has completed it's next 5 year Strategic Plan. For the first time, there is a Special Education subcommitte particpated and providing input. The Report on Special Education from Stetson Associates was used as input for the Strategic Plan. Check out the District's Strategic Plan Taskforce page for up-to-date information - including copies of all the External Program Reviews.

The Delaware Department of Education (DOE) issued a Focused Monitoring report on the Brandywine School District's Special Education program in July of 2005. See the posting on the BSNPTA Forum page for an explanation.

Read about Delaware's mandatory Autism Surveillance and Registry System that makes it illegal for any doctor or hospital to withhold the name of a patient with autism or "suspected" of having autism.

Class Action Lawsuit in Pennsylvania relates to children who have been denied FAPE in regular classrooms with individualized services or those who have been placed in regular classrooms WITHOUT the appropriate supports.

Read the Government Accountability Office (GOA) report on Children with Autism. This report tracks the 500% increase in children receiving services for Autism over the last decade and includes information average cost/student for services provided.
