The following resolution was passed unanimously by the Brandywine School Board on October 20, 2006:
WHEREAS, the Brandywine School District
Board of
Education is dedicated to embracing, challenging, and
inspiring students of every race, with and without
limited English proficiency, with Individualized
Education Plans, from each socio-economic
level/status, and of all academic achievement levels;
WHEREAS, all students are able to make
academic
growth when provided high quality instruction, staff
support, and sufficient time regardless of race, limited
English proficiency, disability and socio-economic
level/status;
WHEREAS, all staff in the Brandywine School
District
are committed to accurately collect, analyze, and
report ongoing data (formative and summative) to
identify student instructional needs and to measure
academic progress to design future instruction;
WHEREAS, there is an expectation that all
parents,
including parents of children of every race, with or
without limited English proficiency, with Individualized
Education Plans, from each socio-economic
level/status, and of all academic achievement levels
are respected as critical members of their child’s
learning community and are viewed and treated as
important collaborative team members and active
participants in their child’s education;
WHEREAS, all staff in the Brandywine School
District
believe that all students, including children of every
race, with or without limited English proficiency, with
Individualized Education Plans, from each socio-
economic level/status, and of all academic
achievement levels are entitled to instruction within
the regular classroom to the fullest extent possible
and with supports and services as needed;
WHEREAS, equivalent and fair resources are
committed to the education of all students and the
training of all staff;
THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED, that
Brandywine School
District Board of Education and the Superintendent
fully supports comprehensive practices for all
students of all races, with or without limited English
proficiency, with or without IEP’s, from each socio-
economic level/status, and of all academic
achievement levels and affirms that all students shall
be provided a high quality, comprehensive education
that assures full, meaningful, and invitational
participation in the academic curriculum. To achieve
such an education each school community shall share
a vision of equity and high expectations for all
students, and a commitment to a set of learning
goals or standards that are strong, clear, understood
and put into practice, and that programs and
curricula must be adapted as needed or necessary for
student success;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE
SUPERINTENDENT SHALL ASSURE THAT:
District and school staff will demonstrate
ownership of educating all students, of all races, of
both genders, with special education classifications,
with or without limited English proficiency, and of
varied socio-economic level/status.
District and building administrators will share in
the responsibility for the education of all students
and will ensure that high quality instruction is
provided in each classroom to all students utilizing
research based best practices.
Instructional staff will share in the responsibility
for the education of all students and provide high
quality instruction in each classroom utilizing research
based best practices.
District and building administrators will be
responsible and held accountable for the supervision
of all staff to ensure shared responsibility for the
education of all students and the provision of high
quality instruction through research based best
practice.
District and building administrators will ensure that
the ongoing professional development activities
provided to all staff are research based best
practices in all areas of instruction for the benefit of
all students.
